Swiss/Italian shipping company MSC has announced an increase in its Emergency Operation Surcharge (EOS) for cargo shipments from Northern Europe to the U.S., Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. This adjustment comes in response to anticipated operational disruptions during the early months of 2025 due to a restructuring of its transatlantic shipping network. The new EOS will take effect from January 18, 2025, and remain applicable until further notice. MSC stated that the surcharge hike aims to address challenges arising from network changes, ensuring route stability and service quality. Customers are advised to note the updated fees and plan logistics arrangements accordingly.
